Accra, Sept. 14, GNA – The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested three suspects for allegedly representing and facilitating the activities of Dutch fugitive Jos Leidekkers, popularly known as “Bolle Jos,” in Ghana.
A statement issued by PNCO Francis Opoku Amoah, Ag. Director, Public Affairs and International Relations, said the arrests followed the reported seizure by French Customs of a cocaine shipment allegedly linked to a wider network.
It said the three suspects were currently in the Commission’s custody and were assisting investigators to establish their alleged roles in the trafficking activities.
The Commission said the arrests formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt networks involved in the illicit drug trade and prevent Ghana from being used as a safe haven, transit point or operational base by international drug-trafficking organisations.
NACOC said it would continue to work with domestic and international law-enforcement partners to dismantle the people, finances and infrastructure sustaining the illicit drug trade.
It, however, assured that the rights and legal protections of all persons under investigation would be safeguarded.
