Keta (VR), June 18, GNA-The Ghana Education Service (GES) at Keta in the Volta Region, has charged parents to advise and guide the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) graduates, who have just completed their final year examinations.

The move, the GES said, would enable the BECE graduates to make informed choices and avoid dangerous and unnecessary companies to prevent any unfortunate incidents.

Mr. Ferdinand Amuzu, the Public Relation Officer for the GES, Keta, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), after the 2025 BECE, congratulated the candidates for the dedication and hardwork towards their education and the examination.

“Yes, our brothers and sisters have done well by fighting hard throughout their studies; it is time for us to encourage, guide and support them with good ideas,” he said.

He explained that the pupils would be spending many more months with their parents and families, and the public must play a crucial role in shaping the children for a better future during that period.

Mr. Amuzu charged parents to be more responsible and engage the graduates in decent jobs or work that would not abuse the children but rather promote their emotional, psychological and physical well-being and prepare them for further education.

“This is just the beginning of life for our young ones, you know these children are very young, some cannot even take their own decisions and that is why we need to be there and guide them,” he said.

He said a total of 1,498 candidates from 42 public and 12 private schools were expected to participate in the examination, but information gathered indicated that some students could not partake in the exams due to some challenges the GES is yet to investigate.

He said the examination, which started on June 11, 2025, was conducted smoothly, with security personnel and invigilators ensured the integrity of the process while candidates were thoroughly checked before the examination to prevent any form of examination malpractice.

Reverend David Dzikunu, the Supervisor at the KetaBusco centre and Mr. Lawrence Agbeveade, the Supervising Examination Officer at Kedzi AME Zion, told the GNA that all candidates were present for the examination throughout the exercise.

He urged pupils to remain prayerful and assist their parents in preparing them adequately for senior high school.

They thanked the GES for providing the necessary security at the various examination centers that ensured a smooth, transparent and successful exercise that promoted integrity of the examination processes.

Some candidates GNA engaged expressed excitement over the examination and were eagerly awaiting their results which are expected to be released in September this year with the outcome expected to determine their eligibility of entering senior high school and Technical Institutions.

They expressed hope that they would pass the examination and progress to Senior High School while GNA spotted some candidates who were jubilating after the final papers with others optimistic about better results.

The GNA also gathered that the BECE timetable which was structured to have candidates write two subjects each day within the period with Arabic being written on Wednesday, June 18, the last day, the examination at Keta ended on Tuesday, June 17, with the Arabic paper not being written by any candidates in the area.
