US Military ready to ensure free traffic in Strait of Hormuz – CENTCOM

Moscow, July 12 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – The United States is ready to ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following Iran’s announcement on its closure, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said on Sunday.

“The Strait of Hormuz is open to all vessels seeking to lawfully transit the international waterway. U.S. forces are positioned and prepared to ensure that freedom of navigation remains available despite unwarranted Iranian aggression, harassment, threats, and arbitrary declarations. Iran does not control the strait. Traffic is flowing,” CENTCOM said on X.

Early in the day, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz until the end of US interference in the region, adding that no vessel would be allowed to pass.
