Nkwanta, (O/R), May 28, GNA – The Nkwanta Community Senior High Technical School has Wednesday observed Menstrual Hygiene Day celebration to deepen sensitization.
The event, which took place at the forecourt of the School’s Assembly Hall, aimed to raise awareness about menstrual health, break cultural stigmas surrounding menstruation, and empower young ladies to promote body positivity and self-care.
Madam Millicent Boafo, the school’s Girl Child Coordinator, led the programme, interacting with students in two sessions.
The first session involved the entire student body, where general information about menstruation and menstrual hygiene was shared.
It also highlighted the importance of boys supporting their sisters and female friends during menstruation, including helping with sanitary materials and household chores.

The second session, exclusive to girls, addressed specific concerns such as maintaining bodily hygiene during menstruation, dispelling misconceptions, and discussing dos and don’ts.
With the support of other staff members of the school, the session concluded successfully.
“By celebrating Menstrual Hygiene Day, the school aims to create a more informed and supportive environment for young girls to manage their menstrual health with confidence,” she said.
The students, at the end of the programme, shared their experiences and pledged to reflect on what they have learnt by applying it to their daily lives.
The menstrual hygiene day celebration was observed on the theme, “together for a period friendly world.”
