Fawoman, (Bono), July 20, GNA-The Royal Priesthood Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has climaxed its 25th anniversary celebration with a thanksgiving service at Fawoman in the Tano South Municipality of the Ahafo Region.
The event, held on the theme: “Faithfulness and Commitment to Christ”, was attended by traditional authorities, and the clergy, and offered the opportunity for the congregation to thank God for his faithfulness to the church.
Delivering the sermon, Reverend Clement Afrifa, the Bechem District Priest of PCG reminded the faithful that “nothing can replace Jesus Christ” and urged the church to remain steadfast in their faith amid societal challenges and modernism.
He observed that many Christians were gradually replacing Christ with wealth, power, social status, technology, and worldly pleasures, stressing that true peace, salvation, and eternal hope could only be found in Christ.
Rev Afrifa underscored the need for the Church to uphold and defend biblical doctrines while resisting influences that sought to draw believers away from God’s purpose for their lives.
He encouraged Christians to deepen their relationship with God through prayer, obedience, and dedicated service to humanity, saying the Church had a critical role to play in promoting peace, justice, unity, and moral values in society.
“Jesus Christ remains the same yesterday, today, and forever,” he stated, adding that: “ no human being, nor earthly possession, and no worldly achievement can ever replace Christ.
“When Christ remains the centre of our lives, we have hope, direction, and everlasting life”.
Rev Afrifa commended the Royal Priesthood congregation for their commitment, sacrifices, and dedication over the decades, urging them to remain steadfast and united in expanding the kingdom of God.”
Miss Evelyn Bema Dankwa, the Caretaker of the Royal Priesthood Congregation, recollected the humble beginnings of the church, describing its growth as a testimony to God’s grace and the unwavering commitment of the pioneers of the church.
She paid glowing tribute to the founders of the church whose sacrifices, perseverance, and vision laid a solid foundation for the congregation amid numerous challenges during the early stages.
Ms Dankwa noted that the church was established with only five members, but through God’s blessings, dedicated evangelism, and the commitment of both ministers and members, it now had 185 congregants.
She expressed appreciation to past and present leaders of the church, ministers, elders, catechists, and members whose selfless contributions had sustained its growth over the years.
Ms Darkwa called on the generation to preserve the legacy of the church by remaining dedicated to active evangelism, discipleship, and community service.
Activities marking the anniversary included praise and worship, thanksgiving, special musical performances, testimonies, and prayers for the nation.
Some individuals were also honoured for their outstanding contributions to the growth and development of the congregation.
