Bechem (Ahafo), May 11, GNA – Management of the Presbyterian Senior High School (PRESEC), Bechem has earmarked a massive improvement in the internal road network for the school and called for support from all stakeholders.

Ms Nancy Arthur, the Headmistress of the school, made this known in her address at the launch of the school’s 60th anniversary celebration at Bechem, in the Ahafo Region.

She said the project was a monument to honour the efforts of the Founding Fathers of the school, on the august occasion, come February 2026.

“The roads in the school have not been paved and are in deplorable states. It’s dusty in the dry season and slippery during the rainy season,” Ms Arthur stated.

“We are painfully aware that road construction is very expensive, hence the need for government and the corporate world to lend support to Management to make laudable initiative, come to fruition,” she said.

Ms Arthur further appealed to all stakeholders of the PRESEC, Bechem fraternity to contribute meaningfully towards the success of the project, to beautify the school, for posterity.

Other challenging areas the Headmistress enumerated included transport, furniture and computers for effective teaching and learning of ICT.

Ms Arthur recalled that the school, which started in 1966 with 50 students (49 males and a female), currently had a student population of 3,672 (2,100 males and 1,572 females), with a staff strength of 286, made up of 220 teachers and 66 supporting staff.

She said it was against this backdrop that its Management needed the support of all and sundry, to improve and sustain the school’s growth and development, for the nation and its people.

The Headmistress paid glowing tribute to the founders of the school, especially, the late Nana Fosu Gyeabour II, the Bechemhene, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, for their roles in establishing PRESEC, Bechem.

“Celebrating 60 years, is a moment to reaffirm our dedication to education, to dream big and to inspire the next generation to reach even higher heights,” she stated.
