Accra, Aug. 25, GNA – The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has mourned the death of Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG).
Dr Bampoe Addo died on Friday, August 21, 2026, following a short illness.
In a statement, the FWSC extended its condolences to the National Executive Council and members of the (CLOGSAG), as well as the bereaved family.
“Dr. Bampoe Addo was a towering figure in Ghana’s labour front,” the Commission said, describing him as a strong advocate for the welfare of civil and local government staff and a respected partner in national negotiations and industrial relations.
The FWSC said Dr Bampoe Addo played an active role in discussions on public sector pay and conditions of service and contributed significantly to engagements between organised labour and the Government.
It said he participated actively in the Commission’s recent stakeholder engagement with Organised Labour on August 13 and 14, where he contributed to discussions on the development of the Independent Emoluments Commission (IPEC) Bill as the FWSC transitioned to IPEC.
“The Commission has lost a knowledgeable stakeholder whose institutional memory, frankness and commitment to social dialogue enriched our collective efforts towards building a fair and sustainable compensation system,” the statement said.
Dr Bampoe Addo was also Chairman of the Forum for Public Sector Associations and Unions, a federation representing several public sector professional associations and unions.
As Executive Secretary of CLOGSAG, a position he held for several years, he was prominent in negotiations and policy engagements concerning salaries, pensions, conditions of service and other matters affecting public sector workers.
He led CLOGSAG in several industrial and policy engagements with the Government and other stakeholders, including negotiations on pensions and remuneration.
Dr Bampoe Addo also served on the Civil Service Council as the CLOGSAG representative, contributing to discussions on broader public service policy and administration.
