Asante Akim South GNAT holds 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference with election of leaders

Juaso (Ash), May 26, GNA-The Asante Akim South Municipal branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), has held its 7th Quadrennial (54th) District Delegates Conference at Juaso.

The conference brought together stakeholders in the education sector from the municipal to national level to engage in meaningful discussions and strategic planning for the future.

In attendance were Madam Amenda Lucy Asamoah, GNAT National Vice President, Ms. Elizabeth Davis, Municipal Director of Education, Madam Ishmaelia Crentsil of Juaso SHTS, and Mr. Prosper Tachie, Ashanti Regional Chairman of GNAT.

Mr. Ishmael Arkoh Mantey, the Municipal Chairman, who also served as chairman of the conference presented a comprehensive report highlighting the progress and achievements made over the past four years.

He spoke about key achievements under his leadership including the creation of two new locals, construction of a new secretariat, and membership drive, which had seen the membership in the municipality increase from 1,307 to 1,430.

The delegates deliberated and adopted several impactful resolutions aimed at improving member welfare

Some of the resolutions are the expansion of cancer support coverage which now includes members’ children above 18 years, reduction in interest rates on loans, as well as timely financial assistance to members.

Madam Amenda Lucy Asamoah, National Vice President of GNAT who was the Guest Speaker, commended the team for the achievements and emphasised GNAT’s continued dedication to enhancing teacher development and welfare.

Other speakers echoed the sentiments, urging the union to maintain its commitment to promoting educational excellence.

The conference concluded on a high note with a renewed sense of unity and purpose among members, reaffirming GNAT’s mission to support educators and improve educational standards across the district.

The 7th Quadrennial Delegates Conference not only celebrated past successes, but also set the stage for future progress, underscoring GNAT’s vital role in the educational development of Asante Akim South.
