Kumasi March 04, GNA – The management of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi has pledged its commitment to motivate staff to give out their best to help improve quality healthcare delivery at the facility.
Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of the Hospital, said management would continue to motivate and encourage staff and the directorates to pursue excellence and innovation through competitive awards and recognition of hard work and dedication.
He was speaking at the 2024 annual thanksgiving and awards ceremony to honour some dedicated staff and retirees of the second largest health facility in the country.
Twenty (20) long serving staff were recognised while 19 outstanding staff from the various departments of the Hospital were also awarded.
They received television sets, fridges, plaques, certificates, and cash prizes.
The overall best staff award went to Dr Divine Yaw Amenuke.
He received a cash prize of GH¢20,000.00, certificate and other items.
The first runner-up was Engineer Emmanuel Wereko Brobbey, who received a cash prize of GH¢15,000.00.
Dr Cynthia Yeboah was adjudged the second runner-up with a cash prize of GH¢10,000.00, while Dr Gloria Makafui Agbenyega, was decorated as the third runner-up and received GH¢5,000.00 as her prize money.
Professor Addai-Mensah, said the hospital with support of the board and other key stakeholders such as the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was embarking on massive retooling and rehabilitation of the wards and other facilities.
He said the ‘Health the KATH’ project being spearheaded by the Asantehene, would help improve quality healthcare delivery at the hospital.
The CEO said the Dialysis Unit of the Hospital could now boast of 20 dialysis machines, which would help in the treatment of cancer patients at the facility.
Professor Addia-Mensah thanked the Asantehene for his continued support, which was helping to improve infrastructure, equipment, and logistics at the hospital.
He praised the staff for their hard work and dedication, which was helping to transform the facility to become a centre of excellence in healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Apostle James Okoh Banor, Ejisu Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, who preached the sermon, urged the workers to always give thanks to God for His mercies and blessings, which were keeping them alive to work to heal people.
He said health workers needed to seek the face of God always in the discharge of their duties, which were to health the sick.
