Accra, Oct. 9, GNA – Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, has visited Rosemond Addo, popularly known as Nana Akua, and her family following reports of alleged domestic abuse involving the family.

During the visit, the Minister assured Nana Akua and her children of the Ministry’s continued support, including psychosocial and social welfare services to safeguard their emotional wellbeing.

A post on the Ministry’s Facebook page, sighted by the Ghana News Agency, said Dr Lartey emphasised the need to provide a safe and supportive environment for the family, particularly the children, who should not bear the burden of conflicts or violence involving adults.

She said that while the Police continued their investigations, the priority remained the safety and wellbeing of Nana Akua and the children, with measures needed to prevent further emotional distress.

The Ministry would also engage Nana Akua’s husband, Harold Norman, who was unavailable during the visit, while ensuring that appropriate support was extended to all those affected.

Dr Lartey reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working with the Police and other relevant institutions to protect the family’s wellbeing, safety and dignity while ensuring that due process was followed.
