Dambai (O/R), Aug. 19, GNA – Mr Isaiah Kudjoe Dordoe, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta North, has joined officials of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) to undertake a demarcation exercise for the extension of potable water pipelines to selected communities in the district.
The exercise was conducted at Sibi, Kabre Kura, Damanko and Jaro Kparekpare, where the team engaged traditional authorities, opinion leaders and other stakeholders to identify suitable parcels of land required for the implementation of the project.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the project team to explain the purpose of the exercise and the importance of community cooperation towards the successful execution of the water extension project.
Mr Dordoe said the initiative formed part of efforts by the District Assembly and its development partners to improve access to potable water and address challenges residents faced in obtaining reliable water supplies for domestic and other uses.
He said access to safe drinking water remained critical to improving public health, sanitation and the overall well-being of residents, especially in communities where people travelled long distances in search of water.
The DCE expressed appreciation to chiefs, opinion leaders and residents for their cooperation and urged them to continue supporting the project to ensure its smooth implementation.
He noted that the identification and demarcation of appropriate land constituted an important step towards ensuring that the required infrastructure was provided without unnecessary challenges.
Chiefs and opinion leaders in the beneficiary communities welcomed the initiative and pledged their support to facilitate the successful implementation of the project.
Following the exercise, Mr Dordoe participated in the “Business in a Box” orientation programme for fisheries beneficiaries, where he encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training and resources being provided under the initiative.
He urged beneficiaries to approach the programme with commitment and discipline, saying the opportunities available could contribute significantly to improving their livelihoods and strengthening economic activities within the district.
Mr Dordoe encouraged participants to apply the knowledge and skills acquired through the orientation to establish sustainable fisheries-related enterprises and ensure that support received was used for its intended purpose.
He further advised beneficiaries to collaborate, share knowledge and adopt responsible business practices to maximise the benefits of the programme.
The DCE assured residents and programme beneficiaries of the Assembly’s continued collaboration with relevant agencies and stakeholders to promote development, improve livelihoods and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth in the district.
He said the activities formed part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to address critical development needs while supporting livelihood opportunities for residents, particularly those engaged in the fisheries sector.
