Omanhene calls for good and responsible parenting

Nyakrom (C/R) July 7,GNA – Okofo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku X,  Paramount Chief of Agona Nyakrom Traditional Area, has admonished parents to invest heavily in their Children’s education to give them a brighter future.  

He said the only legacy parents could bequeath to their children was to educate them to help break the cycle of poverty in the various communities.  

Okofo Katakyi Eku abhorred the behaviour of some parents and guidians who  shirked their responsibilities to send their kids to school or support them to learn a trade.  

The Omanhene made the call at the state council meeting of the Agona Nyakrom Traditional Council at Nyakrom in the Agona West Municipality of the Central Region.  

He urged traditional rulers in the Traditional Area to put in place mechanisms to check children of school going-age from loitering during school hours to reduce dropouts and miscreants in their respective areas.  

The Paramount Chief lauded the security agencies in  Agona West for being proactive in providing security which had brought absolute peace and stability in the area.  

He urged the citizens to be security conscious and alert security personnel of any unusual activity for prompt action.  

Okofo Katakyi also urged the media to always cross check their facts before publishing stories to enhance authentic reportage.  

At the meeting, Nana Kweku Asiedu Nyamekye I, kyidomehene of Agona Duakwa and Nana Onoma Amoako Ababio V, Odikro of Mankrong-Nkwanta were introduced to Okokfo Katakyi Nyakoh Eku as they swore the oath of allegiance to him.  

The Paramount Chief advised the two chiefs to ensure that their towns received the needed infrastructural and human development to raise the  living standards of the people.  

He admonished the two new traditional rulers to avert engaging in acts of disunity and discrimination that thwarted progress and prosperity.  

 Okofo Katakyi Eku urged kingmakers not to install people who were not qualified as chiefs to avoid chieftaincy disputes, adding that the council would not countenance such illegal acts to ensure peace prevailed in the area.
