Accra, July 23, GNA – Morocco’s Head of Government, Mr Aziz Akhannouch, has announced that the Reinforced Exceptional Partnership between Morocco and France, envisioned by His Majesty King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, has entered its full implementation phase.
Mr Akhannouch made the statement on Thursday during a joint press briefing with French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu following the 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting in Rabat.
He said the partnership had evolved beyond the historical ties binding the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic and was now anchored in a shared strategic vision based on political convergence, renewed trust and a common commitment to addressing major global challenges.
According to him, progress achieved since President Macron’s state visit to Morocco in October 2024 demonstrated the relevance and effectiveness of the initiative.
Mr Akhannouch noted that more than 40 high-level meetings and visits had taken place within less than two years, bringing together government officials, public institutions, local authorities, economic stakeholders, universities and civil society organisations from both countries.
He said the engagements were aimed at translating the Reinforced Exceptional Partnership into concrete actions and measurable outcomes.
The Moroccan Head of Government described the attendance of 22 Moroccan and French ministers at the meeting as evidence of the exceptional nature of the event and the strong commitment of both governments to advancing bilateral cooperation.
On economic relations, Mr Akhannouch said agreements signed during the meeting complemented the 22 strategic accords worth nearly €10 billion concluded in October 2024 in the presence of King Mohammed VI and President Macron.
He said the agreements reflected a shared determination to position the partnership within a framework of sustainable economic transformation.
Mr Akhannouch further indicated that 11 new agreements and cooperation instruments adopted during the 15th High-Level Meeting reinforced that objective.
The agreements cover key sectors including health, transport, civil aviation, decentralised cooperation, education, promotion of the Arabic language and other strategic areas expected to strengthen the complementary nature of the two economies.
The Head of Government also highlighted the growing strength of political dialogue between Morocco and France, noting that bilateral relations were now underpinned by renewed trust and increasing convergence on major regional and international issues.
He said Morocco would continue implementing the partnership in line with the directives of King Mohammed VI.
Mr Akhannouch added that strengthened monitoring mechanisms, including joint commissions, working groups and sectoral committees, would oversee the implementation of commitments, accelerate ongoing projects and identify new initiatives aligned with the aspirations of both countries.
