Lawra, (UW/R), July 14, GNA – The Lawra Traditional Council and the Judicial Service in the Lawra Municipality have commended Mr Bede Ziedeng, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lawra Constituency for supporting the two institutions to improve justice delivery and administrative efficiency.
The commendation followed the donation of 660 plastic chairs and two motorbikes by the MP to the two institutions, valued at about GH₵130,000.00.
The chairs were to be distributed to the Traditional Councils within the Lawra Traditional Area, while the motorbikes would support the operations of the Registrar of the Traditional Council and the Lawra Circuit Court bailiff.
Naa Volkur Nyuure Tang IV, the Chief of Eremon, who spoke on behalf of the Traditional Council during a brief ceremony in Lawra to present the items, expressed gratitude to the MP for the donation as it would greatly enhance the work of the Councils.
He explained that inadequate chairs had been a challenge for many Councils during meetings and dispute resolution sessions.
The chairs would help improve seating convenience during council meetings, adjudication and public engagements.
Also, the motorcycle would enhance the mobility of the Registrar in carrying out assignments within the traditional area and improve coordination between the Council and other public institutions.
Naa Tang indicated that the donation was a fulfilment of a promise the MP had made to the Council and appealed for continuous support to the Council.
Ms Leticia Zu, Interpreter at the Lawra Circuit Court, who received the motorcycle on behalf of the Judicial Service, expressed appreciation to the MP and said the intervention would significantly improve the work of the court bailiff.
She assured the MP that the motorcycle would be used for the intended purpose and properly maintained to ensure its longevity.
Madam Cecilia Nuratu Soyelleh, the Lawra Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), described the presentation as a demonstration of the MP’s commitment to supporting all sectors of development in the constituency.
“This event is a testament to the commitment of the MP to the Lawra Constituency to touch every area of the constituency with his benevolence”, she said.
The MCE commended the MP for fulfilling his promise made to the chiefs and the Lawra Circuit Court.
Presenting the items, Mr Ziedeng, the MP, acknowledged the challenges confronting the two institutions in the constituency and emphasised his commitment to helping address those challenges.
He expressed optimism that the support would improve justice delivery and strengthen collaboration with traditional authorities in promoting development within the municipality.
The MP observed that institutions responsible for justice delivery received little public attention despite their critical role in maintaining peace and social order.
Mr Ziedeng reiterated his commitment to sustaining his interventions in education, health, water and sanitation in the constituency.
The Lawra Traditional Council would receive 100 chairs, each of the eight divisional councils would receive 50 chairs, while the sub-divisional councils would each receive 20 chairs.
