Abesim (Bono), Aug. 09, GNA – Stakeholders in peace building have congratulated Alhaji Suallah Abadallah Quandah, the out-going Bono Regional Executive Secretary of the National Peace Council (NPC), for his new appointment as the Director of Research, Monitoring and Evaluation of the NPC.
The stakeholders, comprising traditional authorities, civil society actors, clergy, Islamic scholars and Imams, lauded the exceptional contributions and dedication of Alhaji Quandah towards the sustenance of the prevailing peace of the Bono Region and beyond.
Until his new appointment, Alhaji Quandah served as the Regional Executive Secretary of the NPC for more than two decades in the then Brong-Ahafo Region.
The stakeholders gave their applause at a send-forth party at Abesim, near Sunyani, organised by the Bono Regional Secretariat of the NPC to honour Alhaji Quandah, who had been transferred to the NPC’s headquarters in Accra.
Nana Bofo Bene IV, the Paramount Chief of the Dwenem Traditional Area in the Jaman South Municipality of the region, described Alhaji Qaundah as an embodiment of peace, saying that his immense contributions towards peace building and sustenance remained unmatched.
He said traditional leaders in Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions would forever be grateful to, and remember Alhaji Quandah for his role in shaping the chieftaincy institution in the regions.
Nana Bene described Alhaji Quandah’s transfer from the region as “very painful to some of us,” but added that “he deserves the promotion for his hard work and selflessness and diligence.”
Mr Ransford Antwi, a royal of the Boahen Korkor Royal Family, the occupant of the Sunyani Traditional Stool testified that Alhaji Quandah’s mediation skills contributed partly to the prevailing peace in Sunyani now.
“I had a lot of qualms with him during the Sunyani Traditional stool conflict, but I must testify that he is good about what he does,” Mr Antwi stated.
The Reverend Prince Owusu Asaku, the Bono East Regional Chairman of the NPC indicated that Alhaji Quandah had left an indelible mark in his career as a peace builder.
He said he was highly hopeful that the NPC would tap into his experience and excellent human relations in its efforts towards strengthening national peace and social cohesion.
Responding, Alhaji Quandah said he was highly elated about the praises and pledged his dedication to work diligently in helping to build a more peaceful country.
He expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the NPC, the traditional authorities and the entire people of the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions for their support and contributions towards strengthening the prevailing peace in the regions.
