Accra, July 8, GNA – The Ghana Muslim Mission Women’s Fellowship (GMMWF), Greater Accra, has inaugurated a new executive body to steer the affairs of the Fellowship for the next term.

The executives were sworn into office at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Greater Accra Regional Conference of the Fellowship, held on the theme: “Empowering Muslim Women through Faith, Knowledge and Community Engagement.”

Administering the oath of office, Sheikh Ahmed Adjei Adjetey, Regional Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission (GMM), reminded the new executives that their positions represented a sacred trust, “Amaanah,” which they must discharge with sincerity and dedication.

The new officers are Mrs Yesmin Oblitey, Chairperson; Mrs Mariam Uthman, Vice Chairperson; Mrs Khadija Armah, Secretary; Mrs Ayishatu Balugun, Vice Secretary; Mrs Beliqisu Bentum, Treasurer; and Mrs Rukiyatu Ocquaye, Financial Secretary.

The others are Mrs Sahadatu Aryeetey, Organiser; Mrs Nafisatu Lamptey, First Vice Organiser; Mrs Ramatu Abeka, Second Vice Organiser; Mrs Hafsa Obeng, Public Relations Officer; and Mrs Qaneeta Padiki Paddi-Quaye, Vice Public Relations Officer.

Sheikh Adjetey said the Fellowship had attained its current status through the sacrifices and commitment of past leaders, and urged the new executives to build on that foundation through consultation, unity and teamwork.

He commended the outgoing executives for their service to the Mission and prayed for Allah’s guidance and blessings for both the outgoing and incoming leadership.

Dr Rabiatu Ammah Konney, a member of the Council of Elders of the GMMWF, urged the new executives to remain committed to their responsibilities, reminding them that leadership in the Fellowship was ultimately service to Allah.

“Remember that this is the work of Allah and your reward is with the Lord. So do it well, expecting nothing in return but the reward and blessings of Allah,” she said.

Dr Konney appealed to members of the Fellowship to support and cooperate with the new executives to enable them to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Established in 1967, the Ghana Muslim Mission Women’s Fellowship has undertaken activities in Islamic education, women’s leadership, Da’wah and social development.

The Fellowship has also supported educational advancement through initiatives including the establishment of day care centres, educational infrastructure, leadership development programmes and income-generating activities for women.

Speaking on the conference, Ms Hamdiya Obeng, a member of the Fellowship, said the three-day programme provided participants with practical knowledge and skills to strengthen their families and communities.

She said participants received training in insurance and financial preparedness, basic life support by the Ghana Ambulance Service, and fire safety by the Ghana National Fire Service.

The conference also featured debate and cooking competitions for members of the Young Ladies Forum as part of activities for young Muslim girls.

Ms Obeng said the conference emphasised the role of faith, knowledge and community engagement in empowering Muslim women.
