Estonia leads European investors to Pan African AI Summit in September

Accra, July 7, GNA – The Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN) will participate in the Pan African AI Summit in September to promote investment in Africa’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.

The partnership is expected to strengthen links between European investors and African AI startups through seed capital, mentorship and market access opportunities.

A statement issued by the organisers and copied to the Ghana News Agency said Mr Lauri Antalainen, President of the Estonian Business Angels Network (EstBAN), would represent the European angel investment sector at the summit.

The statement said the partnership sought to inject smart capital into Africa’s promising artificial intelligence ventures, drawing on Estonia’s experience in building a digital economy and scaling technology businesses.

“Estonia’s involvement carries a distinct strategic significance. As a nation that produced the highest number of unicorns per capita in Europe by pioneering a digital-first society, Estonia understands the mechanics of scaling tech from emerging ecosystems to the global stage,”it said.

The statement quoted Mr Antalainen as saying Africa’s emerging innovation ecosystem required stronger connections among founders, investors and innovation communities across continents.

“Through EstBAN’s involvement in the Pan African AI Summit, we want to bring European angel investment experience closer to African entrepreneurs, while also learning from the ambition, creativity, and market understanding that already exist across the continent.

“This should not be a one-off initiative, but the beginning of a longer-term bridge between African and European startup ecosystems,” he stated.

The statement said the participation of European investment networks such as EstBAN was expected to provide seed capital, mentorship, access to European Union market entry pathways and integration into established regulatory and business scaling frameworks.

“As AI continues to flatten the technological landscape, the most successful investors will be those who recognise that the bridge between European capital and African innovation is not just a diplomatic initiative, but a core strategic imperative for the next decade of tech,” it said.

The Pan African AI Summit will bring together policymakers, industry leaders and innovators from across the continent to discuss strategies for positioning Africa as a competitive player in the global artificial intelligence landscape.

The summit will also showcase the application of artificial intelligence to agriculture, education and healthcare, with a focus on improving productivity and service delivery through predictive analytics and AI-powered tools.
