Kwaso (Ash), July 27, GNA – Authorities of Kwaso Presbyterian School have appealed to the government, corporate institutions, old students, and benevolent individuals to support the school’s efforts to renovate its deteriorating 122-year-old classroom block and refurbish its computer laboratory.
Mr Michael Tamakloe, the Head teacher at the school, made the appeal during the school’s Open Day ceremony, which also witnessed the commissioning of a newly constructed School Feeding Kitchen, and a three-unit classroom block, built through the support of the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Kwabena Boateng.
Mr Tamakloe said the six-unit classroom block, which had served generations of pupils for more than a century, was now in a deplorable condition and required urgent attention.
He said the poor state of the structure posed a serious threat to both teachers and pupils, stressing the need for immediate intervention to provide a safe and conducive environment for effective teaching and learning.
“We are appealing to the government, Municipal Chief Executive, old students, and other stakeholders to come to our aid and help renovate this historic classroom block,” he said.
The Headteacher also appealed for assistance to refurbish the school’s computer laboratory, explaining that access to modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities was essential in preparing pupils for the demands of the digital age.
He noted that improving the computer laboratory would enhance pupils’ digital literacy and provide them with the skills needed to compete in today’s technology-driven world.
Mr Seth Ibeng Yamoah, the Assembly Member for the Kwaso Denteso Electoral Area, together with members of the Unit Committee, also joined the call for support.
He emphasised that improving educational infrastructure in the community remained a priority, as quality infrastructure played a vital role in improving academic outcomes.
He appealed to non-governmental organisations, private institutions, philanthropists, and other development partners to assist the school in renovating the old classroom block and upgrading the computer laboratory.
