Ho (V/R), Oct. 02, GNA – Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has announced that fans in the Volta Region will not pay entry fees to attend the MoMoFest X ShattaFest concert scheduled for Saturday in Ho.
The artiste made the announcement during a press briefing in Ho ahead of the event, organised by MobileMoney Fintech Limited.
Shata said he wanted to use the concert to reconnect with his fans and honour his roots in the region.
Shatta Wale said he considered the Volta Region his “motherland” and expressed gratitude to chiefs, queen mothers, traditional authorities and fans for their support and prayers throughout his career.
He also paid tribute to his late grandfather, whom he identified as Agbavitor, saying he (grandfather) encouraged his parents to believe that he (Shata) would become a great person in the future.
The artiste said his decision to waive the entry fee followed the overwhelming response from fans, noting that he had seen videos and messages on social media showing their excitement about his return to the region.
“I know it’s been like 10, 12 years since I’ve been here to perform, and I just want to tell every fan in the Volta Region, wherever anybody is listening from, I just want to say, the show on Saturday, I’m going to take all the cost for the fans,” he said.
He explained that, for security and crowd-control purposes, fans would be required to demonstrate support for selected products and services to gain access to the event.
He said fans could download the MoMo by MTN application and present it at the entrance as their ticket to the concert.
Shatta Wale also mentioned WIRE, a communication application designed to facilitate calls in areas with poor network connectivity, saying fans who downloaded the application could also gain entry.
He further encouraged tricycle riders, popularly known as “Keke” riders, to download and use Shaxi as another means of gaining entry while supporting the initiative.
The artiste said his Hot Wave team would also be at the venue and that fans could gain access by showing evidence of supporting the products and initiatives associated with the event.
“We are just doing it because of security reasons. When you come, we know you’re supportive. You are supporting MoMo by MTN, you are supporting Shaxi, you are supporting WIRE,” he said.
Shatta Wale urged fans across the region to attend the concert in large numbers and enjoy songs he had not performed in the region for several years.
“I just want people to come there. We all want people. Let’s come and enjoy the songs that I have not performed in a long while so we can have a beautiful party in the Volta Region,” he said.
