Volta Region receives six Metro Mass Buses to boost public transport

By Michael Foli Jackidy, GNA

Ho (V/R), June 03, GNA – Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has described the arrival and handing over of six new Metro Mass Transit buses to the region as a significant boost to public transportation and regional development.

Speaking at the official handing-over ceremony on Wednesday, Mr Gunu said the development reflects government’s commitment to improving mobility and strengthening economic activity in the Volta Region, which he noted is fast emerging as one of the country’s leading investment destinations.

“The arrival of the Metro Mass buses is fantastic because the Volta Region is becoming the best investment destination in the country today. We are happy and privileged to have six of these buses in the region,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to the President of the Republic for what he described as his vision and the ongoing national “resetting agenda,” which he said continues to deliver tangible development projects across the country.

Mr Gunu, however, used the occasion to caution drivers to strictly adhere to road safety regulations, especially in view of ongoing road construction works across the region.

“As we speak, the Volta Region has become a construction site. Just as the President said, the entire country is a construction site. We are constructing roads, so drivers must be very careful and observe all safety rules,” he stated.

He further urged contractors and consultants to work on road projects to ensure adequate installation of road signs and safety indicators to guide motorists and reduce the risk of accidents.

“They should put adequate road signs in place so that drivers can observe the necessary cautions on the roads and avoid accidents as they use these routes,” he added.

The handing-over was led by Mr. Prince Sherif Ibrahim Ahunya, Regional Manager of Metro Mass Transit Limited, who presented the buses on behalf of the company and its team.

The new buses are expected to improve inter-district transportation and ease movement of passengers across the Volta Region.
