Dambai (O/R) June 21, GNA – Football supporters in the Krachi East Municipality have called on the technical team of the Black Stars to adopt a performance-based approach in selecting the team’s starting line-up for Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup group-stage fixture against England.
The supporters, in separate interviews with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in the municipality, said player selection should be guided by current form, fitness levels and recent performances to ensure the team remains competitive throughout the tournament.
They noted that the match against England, scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, presents an opportunity for the technical team to assess available options and strengthen squad cohesion ahead of subsequent fixtures.
Mr Kwame Gyamesi a football enthusiast at Njari said players who are in peak condition should be considered for selection regardless of previous appearances.
“The technical team may consider the current form of all players. The match against England is a high-profile fixture, and it is important to field players who are in optimal condition,” he said.
Miss Abena Serwaa, another supporter at Pai-Katanga, said strategic squad rotation could provide an opportunity to evaluate different player combinations while maintaining competitiveness.
“All players in the Black Stars set-up are capable of contributing. Selection based on current performance can help improve team output and overall competitiveness,” she stated.
The supporters commended the Ghana Football Association and the technical team for their preparations for the tournament and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to perform creditably on the global stage.
They also urged the players to remain focused and maintain discipline as the competition progresses.
The Black Stars will face England in their next group-stage match following their 1-0 victory over Panama on June 17 in Toronto, Canada.
The Ghana Football Association has reiterated its commitment to providing the necessary technical and logistical support to ensure the national team remains competitive throughout the tournament.
