Accra, 31 Aug, GNA – The 2006 Year Group of Ada Senior High School (Adasco), known as Nimeli ’06, has returned to its alma mater to mark the 20th anniversary of their completion of Senior High School with a generous donation of 150 classroom furniture.
The donation, presented was in response to the school’s growing need for classroom furniture, occasioned by a significant increase in student enrolment over the past few years.
The group has, however, indicated that the donation represents only the first phase of a broader commitment.
According to the members, the provision of classroom furniture would become their legacy project, with plans to donate additional furniture in the coming years to help address the existing gaps.
The anniversary celebration also provided members of Nimeli ’06 with an opportunity to reconnect with their alma mater, interact with students and staff, share fond memories and relive cherished moments from their days at Adasco.
As part of the celebration, the group also honoured an outstanding teacher, Mr Elvis Birinkorang, who was due to retire.
He was presented with a citation and an undisclosed cash amount in recognition of his dedicated service and contribution to the education and development of generations of students.
Receiving the furniture on behalf of management, staff and students, Mrs Adelaide Abayateye, the Headmistress of Adasco, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Nimeli ’06 for the gesture and its continued commitment to the development of the school.
“This anniversary is not only a celebration of cherished memories and enduring friendships, but also a beautiful demonstration of gratitude, responsibility and commitment to your alma mater,” she stated.
She added, “your decision to give back to Adasco through this generous donation is deeply appreciated. Indeed, you have not forgotten where your journey began. Your gesture will contribute meaningfully to the development of the school and inspire generations of students to come.”
Mrs Abayateye encouraged the old students to sustain their strong bond with the school and urged other year groups and stakeholders to emulate the gesture by supporting the development of Adasco.
Mr William Ankrah, the School Chaplain, also underscored the urgent need for sustained support towards the provision of additional classroom furniture.
He noted that the school currently has a student population of more than 3,000, making the need for adequate furniture particularly pressing.
“Our numbers keep increasing and we do not have enough furniture for the students, especially when the school is in full session. We therefore plead with you and other year groups to come back and support,” he stressed.
