Ho, June 8, GNA – Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the Ho Municipality have received livelihood support items under the fourth phase of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) intervention aimed at promoting economic empowerment and social inclusion.
The exercise, undertaken in the Assembly’s forecourt by Mr Stephen Adom, the Municipal Chief Executive and the Ho Municipal Assembly, formed part of efforts to improve the living conditions of PWDs and enhance their participation in productive economic activities within the municipality.
Beneficiaries received a range of support items, including cash assistance, sewing machines, chest freezers, fufu pounding machines, barbering equipment and essential household provisions such as rice, cooking oil, detergents, and other livelihood-enhancing materials.
The intervention is expected to enable beneficiaries to establish new businesses, expand existing enterprises, and improve their sources of income, thereby reducing dependence and promoting economic self-reliance.
Speaking during the distribution to Ghana News Agency (GNA), the municipal Mr Adom reiterated their commitment to ensuring that allocations from the District Assemblies Common Fund earmarked for Persons with Disabilities were disbursed transparently and used for their intended purposes.

Mr Adom noted that the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to empower PWDs, strengthen social protection systems, and create opportunities for beneficiaries to contribute meaningfully to local development.
Officials assured beneficiaries that monitoring mechanisms would be strengthened to ensure that the support provided translated into sustainable livelihoods and long-term economic benefits.
“We remain committed to ensuring that government allocations meant for the welfare of Persons with Disabilities reach them promptly and are utilised for their intended purpose. We will continue to monitor and support beneficiaries to maximise the impact of these resources,” he stated.
The Assembly also appealed to families, community leaders, and residents to continue showing love, respect, and support to persons with disabilities, recognising their abilities, talents, and valuable contributions to society.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support and said the intervention would help improve their economic activities and quality of life, while contributing to the vision of building an inclusive municipality where no one is left behind.
