Paga (U/E), June 2, GNA – Kacstone Records, a talent and cultural development company, has donated 15 hexagonal desks to the Paga English and Arabic Primary School in the Kassena-Nankana West District to support early childhood education.
The desks, which can accommodate about 90 kindergarten pupils, are expected to address a long-standing furniture deficit that has affected effective learning, enrolment, and retention, and to improve teaching and learning conditions.
The donation forms part of the company’s commitment to creating a conducive learning environment for young learners and promoting quality early childhood education in the area.
Presenting the desks on behalf of Mr Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Mr Mohammed Issah Abakuri, an official of the company, said the gesture was in response to an appeal from the school.
He said some kindergarten pupils had been studying under difficult conditions due to the lack of appropriate desks and chairs.
“We are not doing this because Kacstone Records is rich. We are doing it because we know that children are the future leaders, and it is important to support them and improve their learning environment,” Mr Abakuri said.
He expressed the hope that the gesture would inspire individuals, philanthropists, and corporate organisations to support education in their communities.
Mr Abakuri emphasised that government alone could not provide all the infrastructure and resources required in schools, and therefore urged stakeholders to complement its efforts to improve educational outcomes.
Receiving the desks, Mr Alhassan Bukari, Headmaster of the school, expressed gratitude to Kacstone Records for responding to the school’s appeal.
He said upon assuming office in September 2025, he observed that many kindergarten pupils lacked suitable furniture and had to sit on ordinary benches without writing surfaces, making learning and writing difficult.
“At this level, children are learning how to write, and sitting on benches without writing places made it very difficult for them. This donation will significantly improve their learning conditions,” he said.
Mr Bukari noted that the lack of adequate furniture had negatively affected enrolment and retention, as some parents were reluctant to enrol their children due to the poor learning environment.
He said some pupils who enrolled eventually dropped out because of the inadequate facilities, adding that the school currently has a population of 419 pupils.
Mr Sadik Osman, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), commended Kacstone Records for the support, noting that it would enhance teaching and learning.
He, however, indicated that although the school had a library and a computer laboratory, both lacked essential resources.
“We have a library building with tables and chairs, but there are no books in it. We will be grateful if people come to our aid and help stock the library to improve learning outcomes for our pupils,” he said.
