Accra, June 29, The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has urged businesses and taxpayers to take necessary precautions as heavy rains continue to affect parts of Accra and other areas, with further downpours expected in the coming days.
Mr Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the Commissioner‑General of GRA, acknowledged that severe weather could disrupt transport, delay the movement of goods, affect business operations, and create additionalpressure for businesses already working to meet customer and regulatory obligations.
The Authority, in statement issued in Accra on Monday, assured the business community that efforts were being made to ensure services remained available throughout the period.
It said teams across the country’s ports, border posts, and Taxpayer Service Centers (TSCs) had put measures in place to maintain essential Customs and Domestic Tax services.
The Authority’s objective was to keep legitimate trade moving, minimise avoidable disruptions, and continue serving taxpayers as efficiently as possible.
“Businesses are encouraged to plan ahead, make use of our digital services where appropriate, allow for possible delays in transportation, and place the safety of their employees first,” it added.
The statement said no business activity was more important than protecting lives.
“The GRA is committed to supporting businesses during this period by maintaining service continuity and protecting the revenue that supports national development,” the statement said.
It wished all taxpayers a safe week and urged the public to follow the advice of the relevant emergency and weather authorities as the rains continued.
