Dambai (O/R), June 23, GNA – The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Biakoye Constituency, Madam Jean-Marie Formadi, has presented relief items to residents and traders affected by the ongoing redevelopment of the Abotoase Market.

The presentation, held on Saturday, June 20, formed part of efforts to support persons impacted by the demolition exercise undertaken to pave the way for the construction of a new market facility.

The items distributed included roofing sheets, bags of rice, maize, beans, cooking oil, soap, buckets, blankets, mosquito nets, mattresses, roofing nails, cups, and other essential household supplies.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Madam Formadi said the intervention was aimed at easing the burden on affected residents during the transition period and to demonstrate solidarity with them.

She noted that some of the affected persons had not been able to access formal compensation arrangements and therefore required immediate assistance to cushion the impact of the redevelopment exercise.

The MP commended the Government’s efforts to improve trading infrastructure in the constituency through the construction of an ultra-modern market and appealed to residents to cooperate with contractors to ensure the timely completion of the project.

“The new market will provide a more conducive environment for trading, improve sanitation and enhance economic activities in the area,” she stated.

Madam Formadi also extended Father’s Day greetings to fathers in the constituency and encouraged them to continue playing their vital roles in the upbringing of their children and the development of society.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the MP for the support, describing the gesture as timely and helpful.

They pledged their cooperation towards the successful implementation of the market redevelopment project and expressed optimism about the benefits the new facility would bring to the community.

The redevelopment of the Abotoase Market forms part of broader efforts to modernise trading infrastructure and improve sanitary conditions in the area.
