Bolgatanga, June 23, GNA – The Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Men’s Fellowship has climaxed its week-long annual celebration with a call on Christian men to take the lead in building a stronger foundation for both the family and the Church.
The celebration, which was held on the theme: “A new command I give you: Love one another” (John 13:34–35), featured various activities, including talks on health, business management, the role of fathers as heads of families, and men’s contributions towards strengthening the growth of the Church.
Mr Moses Anamolga, Local President of the Fellowship, said ending the programme on Father’s Day was not coincidental but a deliberate effort to draw attention to the roles of men in the Church and the family, as directed by Christ.
He said during the week, members received extensive education on managing their health and enhancing their contributions towards strengthening the foundations of God’s Church in general, and Saint Cyprian’s Parish in particular.
Mr Alex Akugure, a member of the Fellowship who preached the sermon, urged members of the Church to reach out to backslidden parishioners and encourage them to return, to help strengthen the Church.
He also advised Christians to avoid bickering, hatred and unnecessary complaints, and rather forge strong bonds of love and unity in the spirit of building God’s Church.
Mr Akugure reminded the laity of God’s promise of reciprocal honour through showing compassion to others, loving God, and demonstrating love as a daily responsibility rather than a choice.
As part of activities to climax the week-long programme, health professionals within the Church conducted a health screening exercise for members.
The Anglican Men’s Fellowship is a guild within the Anglican Communion that plays a key role in promoting the welfare of its members.
It is also dedicated to fostering spiritual growth and guiding members to uphold the traditions of the Church, while equipping them to provide leadership and support evangelism efforts.
