Tema, May 11, GNA – The Reverend Mrs Rita Obeng Ansong, Second Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana Redemption Congregation at Tema Community Nine, has called on women to remain resilient and uphold strong Christian values to preserve societies and Christian heritage for future generations.

She said this when preaching on the theme: “Celebrating Our Heritage: Persisting in Missions. Women, the Bedrock of Our Heritage,” during a women’s day Sunday service on Mother’s Day.

Rev Mrs Ansong said women played critical roles in society beyond childbirth and must continue to serve as caregivers, educators, innovators, and moral examples.

She explained that women were created with unique biological and social attributes that positioned them as pillars within families and communities.

“A woman must have resilience. When everything is falling apart, she holds on with faith,” she stated.

Rev Mrs Ansong described women as natural caregivers and hospitable individuals who contributed significantly to nurturing society and shaping future generations.

According to her, motherhood extended beyond giving birth because many women who did not have biological children still dedicated their lives to caring for and supporting others.

“Women play roles beyond getting pregnant and giving birth. There are some without biological children, but who take care of others,” she said.

She described women as advocates of society who carried the responsibility of protecting Christian heritage and values through their conduct and teachings.

Drawing lessons from the Bible, she referenced the lives of Timothy’s mother and grandmother, noting that their godly upbringing helped shape Timothy into a faithful servant of God.

She also cited the biblical story of Naomi and Ruth, saying Ruth demonstrated perseverance, loyalty, and selflessness despite difficult circumstances.

“Ruth exhibited perseverance. We have to learn to be selfless and think about others rather than ourselves,” she noted.

Rev Mrs Ansong cautioned women against allowing fear and negative attitudes to destroy opportunities and relationships in their lives.

“Sometimes women are afraid of the future, so they coil up. We destroy our works with our own hands, not the Devil’s. Your character is sacking people away from patronising your work,” she stated.

She urged women to remain faithful to God, stressing that God would sustain and help them during times of difficulty and uncertainty.

“Be faithful to God, and He will stretch forth to help you in the days of trouble,” she added.
