Ho (V/R), May 3, GNA – Mr James Gunu, the Volta Regional Minister, has urged candidates sitting for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to remain focused, disciplined and resolute as they begin the nationwide examination on Monday, May 4.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Gunu encouraged the candidates to give off their best and approach the examination with confidence, assuring them that their hard work and commitment would yield positive results.
He cautioned the candidates against shortcuts and examination malpractices, stressing that integrity was as important as academic success.
“They should stay focused and give off their best in this year’s BECE. Their determination and hard work will pay off. They should also avoid shortcuts and examination malpractice because integrity matters just as much as success,” he said.
Mr Gunu also commended parents, guardians, teachers and other education stakeholders for their dedication and support towards the preparation of the candidates for the examination.
He noted that their sacrifices, guidance and encouragement had played a critical role in bringing the candidates this far and expressed confidence that their efforts would be reflected in the performance of the students.
A total of 32,311 candidates from both public and private schools, including visually and hearing-impaired candidates, are expected to sit for this year’s BECE in the Volta region from Monday, May 4, to Friday, May 8.
Mrs Mariam Jemima Akua Adzroe, the Volta Regional Director of Education, told the GNA that the figure comprised 26,463 candidates from public schools and 5,848 from private schools.
She said the examination would be conducted at 121 centres across the region and wished the candidates success.
