Adaklu Abuadi (V/R), May 09, GNA-Mr Governs Kwame Agbodza, the Minister of Roads and Highways, on Friday feted the 565 pupils, who just completed writing their Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and their teachers.
The ceremony was simultaneously held at Adaklu Abuadi and Adaklu Waya, the two examination centres.
Two hundred and eighty-four of the candidates were hosted at Waya while 281 were hosted at Adaklu Abuadi.
The students came from 33 public and three private schools in the district.
Mr Hayford Amenuvie, the Adaklu Constituency Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), speaking at the ceremony on behalf of Mr Agbodza congratulated the pupils for successfully completing the examination without any incident.
He hoped they would make Adaklu and themselves proud by coming out with good grades to enable them to continue with their academic pursuit.
Mr Amenuvie, who is also the Assemblyman for Adaklu Ablornu Electoral Area, told the students that it was the wish of Mr Agbodza who is also the Member of Parliament for Adaklu to be with them personally but could not, due to pressing official assignments.
He reiterated that the only way to eradicate poverty from society was through education and thus encouraged the graduates not to relent on their efforts to climb the educational ladder to a higher level.
“Do not be complacent because you have written the BECE because the task ahead of you is enormous, the road ahead of you is long so be focused,” he advised.
The Assemblyman advised them not to indulge in any anti-social vices that would jeopardise their future whilst waiting for their results saying, “refrain from peer pressure and don’t do anything that will derail your future ambitions.”
He told the GNA that the Minister also provided breakfast for the pupils throughout the examination period, adding, “this is a yearly ritual by him.”
