Kajaji, (Bono East), May 12, GNA-Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister has unveiled a 22-seater boat for the regional office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to enhance accessing healthcare delivery in Island communities in the region.
The boat will facilitate the transportation of personnel to the hard-to-reach island communities on the Volta Lake in the Sene East District of the Region.
Speaking at a ceremony at Kajaji, district capital, Mr Antwi advised the Authority to maintain the boat, asking the traditional authorities and the residents to use the machine properly.
He said he was hopeful that the boat would greatly help address recurring disasters on the lake and advised the operators against speeding.
Mr Kingsford Gyamfi Opoku, the Acting Bono East Regional Director of the NHIA said the boat would also help improve access to healthcare delivery services in the island communities as well as strengthen the implementation of the Free Primary Healthcare programme.
“The boat is expected to enhance outreach services and ensure that residents in the hard-to-reach island communities continue to benefit from quality healthcare and other essential government services”, he stated.
Mr Opoku said the operation of the boat aligned with the NHIA Corporate Social Responsibility programme in enhancing the people’s access to quality healthcare services delivery.
Nana Krunka Osore Sunkwa II, the Kyidomhene (sub-chief) of the Nkomi Traditional Council, expressed appreciation to the government and promised to monitor the operations of the boat, ensuring that it was utilized for the intended purposes.
