Blekusu (V/R), May 12, GNA-Mr Raphael Nukamewor, the Assembly Member for Blekusu Electoral Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has donated about 110 school uniforms to two basic schools within his electoral area.
The gesture, according to the donor, was aimed at making education more inclusive and attractive to vulnerable pupils in the area.
The beneficiary schools include Blekusu Roman Catholic (R.C) Basic School and Blekusu Mina Basic School.
Mr Nukamewor, told the Ghana News Agency, in an interview, during the donation ceremony at Blekusu, that the donation was driven by passion to improve education and desire to ensure that every child felt a sense of belonging within the school environment, regardless of their socioeconomic background.

“These uniforms is distributed to students with either tattered uniforms or those who wore house dresses because they had no uniform, let use the little we have to help our future leaders to help shape them for successful tomorrow,” he said.
The Assembly Member said the distribution of the free school uniforms re-emphasised his commitment towards making education attractive and accessible to the most vulnerable students of the society within his electoral area.
He drew on his own personal experience to inspire the beneficiary pupils, disclosing that he was once a needy student in the same community of Blekusu before working hard to attain his status.
“Most people think all needy students are from deprived communities, but I was also a needy student here in Blekusu. I studied hard to become who I am today, so I urge you all to study hard so that you will become great men and women for Ghana.”
He also advised the beneficiary students to study hard to justify the significant investment being made in them by their parents and the government, and to make the most opportunities created for them.
Mr Moses Nutekpor, Headmaster of Blekusu R.C Basic School, who received the items on behalf of the beneficiary schools, commended the Assembly Member for the kind gesture and assured that the learners would use the uniforms well for the intended purpose.
Madam Hannah Akpene Lokpo, headmistress of Blekusu Mina Basic School, also expressed gratitude to the Assembly Member and used the occasion to appeal to well-meaning citizens and non-governmental organisations to support the wellbeing and future of the next generation of leaders.
