Madina, (G/A), May 29, GNA – Alhaji Ibrahim Fuseini Faila, the La Nkwantanang- Madina Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has urged the youth to offer their energies for productive ventures that build society and themselves.
He has therefore called on the youth to refrain from offering their energies as tools for vandalism, rioting, and other social vices.
Alhaji Faila gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) when the assembly presented 13 cows to Muslim communities at various palaces in the municipality to celebrate the Eid- Al- Adha, the Muslim feast of sacrifice, in Accra.
The MCE, together with Mr Francis Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina Constituency, presented the items to the beneficiaries.
The beneficiary communities were Madina Zongo, Taxi Rank Mosque, Otinibi, Madina Youth, Zongo Youth and Adentan. They received two cows each, the meat of which was to be distributed to their households.
The MCE admonished the youth to continue to uphold moral virtues acceptable to society, saying that they were the future leaders who would receive the baton of leadership in the foreseeable future.
He reminded the youth that the festive occasion was a period of reflection and renewal of mindset towards becoming good citizens of society and the nation at large.
He further urged members of society to be tolerant and accommodate each other in view of differences of thought and divergent views on issues.
Alhaji Faila commended the Muslim community and the various youth groups in the area for their commitment to peace, adding that, conscious efforts would be put in place to sustain the peace in the municipality.
Mr. Sosu commended the Muslim communities for their peaceful co-existence which he said would spearhead growth and development for the area and improve the living conditions of the people.
He urged the people to prioritise peace and unity, adding, “let’s come together and build the community as one person.”
He used the opportunity to thank the youth for their support while calling for forgiveness for past offences from all sides.
“As an MP, you can sometimes be offended too, but I have forgiven any such offence,” he said.
On his part, Ali Dada Dagadu, Chief of Madina Zongo, appealed to the Assembly to construct and upgrade roads and gutters in the community to better the living conditions of the people.
He urged community members to be law-abiding, adding that the country could only progress if the citizens were law-abiding.
