Kumasi, May 23, GNA – The Kumasi Abattoir Company Limited has urged the public to patronise its facility to access wholesome and properly inspected meat products, especially as Muslims prepare towards the Eid al-Adha celebration.
The management of the company says animals brought to the abattoir for slaughter undergo mandatory veterinary inspection and health checks before the meat is certified and released on the market for public consumption.
Eid al-Adha, one of the most important festivals in Islam, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and obedience to God, symbolised by his willingness to sacrifice his son.
The management explained that the process ensured consumers purchased meat with confidence, knowing it had been examined and declared fit for human consumption.
Mr. Michael Tongban, the Production Manager of the company, made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi ahead of this year’s Eid al-Adha celebration scheduled for May 27, 2026.
He described the Kumasi Abattoir as the safest destination for residents within Greater Kumasi and beyond to source livestock for festive occasions and have them slaughtered under hygienic and controlled conditions.
According to him, customers who patronise the facility benefit from proper animal handling procedures and strict safety measures aimed at reducing contamination during slaughtering and processing.

Mr. Tongban said the company remained committed to ensuring that only healthy animals were approved for slaughter through close collaboration with veterinary officers stationed at the facility.
He noted that animals suspected to have health complications were isolated and appropriately managed before any meat was released for sale.
The Production Manager further stated that charges for slaughtering and related services remained affordable compared to some private facilities, a move aimed at encouraging individuals, livestock dealers and meat vendors to use the official abattoir.
Mr. Tongban also encouraged the public to patronise the abattoir’s packaged products, including sausages, beef, pork and other processed meat products.
He said the products were prepared under hygienic conditions and carefully packaged to meet acceptable quality and safety standards, while giving customers a variety of options based on their preferences and budgets.
