Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), Aug 27, GNA-Mr Dominic Adomah Ameyaw, the Dormaa Central Municipal Chief Executive in the Bono Region, has pledged the assembly’s dedication towards the completion of the 24-Hour Economy Market project in the area.
He said that the construction work on the market project was progressing steadily at Dormaa-Ahenkro, assuring that it would be completed within 30 months.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa-Ahenkro, Mr Ameyaw explained that the execution of the project was confronted with the challenges of relocation of the traders and a sawn mill and container shops.
However, he added that through extensive engagements, the traders were relocated to the temporary market site around the Dormaa-Ahenkro Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium.
Mr Ameyaw explained works on the foundation and casting which constituted the first phase of the market project had been completed, saying that the project had reached about 30 percent.
He said the assembly would hold a meeting with the contractor, identify and address emerging challenges confronting the execution of the project.
“The contractor is pre-financing the project and we expect him to raise his first certificate any moment from now payment,” Mr Ameyaw explained, assuring that funding for the project was not a problem.
He explained that the project was being funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), saying that 25 percent allocation of the DACF had been dedicated to the execution of project execution.
Mr Ameyaw stressed the assembly’s dedication to actualise the vision of the government towards building a standard 24- Hour Market facility that would advance rapid economic growth and development in the municipality.
