Accra, May 15, GNA – Government has announced conclusion of the three-year US$3bn loan-supported programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and transitions to a non-financing policy coordination instrument with the Fund.
According to the IMF, Ghana’s non-financing policy coordination instrument, will span a period of 36 months and will focus on a credible fiscal path, resilience building and structural reforms.
The policy coordination instrument means Ghana’s financial dependence on the IMF is over, Ruben Atoyan, IMF Staff Mission lead, said.
Dr Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the Minister of Finance, said Ghana is not in a hurry to return to the international capital market—at least for 2026.
