Accra, May 26, GNA – Mr Ivan Bruce-Cudjoe, a presidential aspirant of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), has pledged to restore discipline, transparency, and accountability in Ghana boxing if elected as president.
Speaking at a media engagement held at Travel Matters office in Accra, Mr Bruce-Cudjoe, popularly known as ‘IBC’, said his decision to contest the presidency of the GBA was motivated by his desire to reposition Ghana boxing and elevate it to international standards.
According to him, his vision was to take Ghana boxing to a higher level by producing more world champions and making Ghana the preferred boxing destination in Africa.
He said, “I want to take Ghana boxing to the next level in the new era where we can produce more world champions and make Ghana the preferred boxing destination in Africa.”
Mr Bruce-Cudjoe said he intended to decentralise boxing development by extending the sport beyond Accra to all the 16 regions to encourage more participation and support nationwide.
He also promised to restore credibility to national championship titles and ensure that Ghanaian champions receive recognition and ratings from major world boxing bodies, especially the Commonwealth.
The GBA Presidential hopeful further pledged support for coaches and retired boxers while prioritising the health, safety, and welfare of active boxers through strict adherence to health and safety protocols.
He assured stakeholders that he would work to unite the boxing fraternity and promote peace and cooperation within the sport.
Mr Bruce-Cudjoe disclosed that he had outlined several initiatives for his first 100 days in office but declined to reveal details, saying Ghanaians would witness positive changes should he emerge victorious in the election.
As part of his commitment to Ghana boxing, he announced his resignation from Cabic Promotions to fully concentrate on serving the sport and the nation.
He commended the media for their continuous support of Ghana boxing and acknowledged the important role journalists played in promoting the sport and its development.
The GBA goes to the polls on June 4, 2026, to elect new executives to steer the affairs of boxing in the country.
Mr Bruce-Cudjoe expressed confidence in his chances of winning the election.
He said, “I am very confident and optimistic about winning because whenever I decide to run for something, I give it my all and work hard to succeed.”
Mr Bruce-Cudjoe is the Chief Executive Officer of Travel Matters and Idrowhyt Events Centre.
He is also regarded as a major stakeholder and investor in Ghana boxing, owning a world-class boxing gym and managing several boxers.
