Dambai (O/R), Sept 12, GNA – Nana Kwaku Beyennor II, the Chief of Dambai in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region has urged candidates who excelled in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to sustain and improve upon their academic performance as they transition to Senior High School (SHS).
The Chief speaking in an exclusive engagement with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), after a ceremony to celebrate and motivate outstanding BECE candidates in the area, encouraged candidates who obtained an aggregate score of six to work hard to maintain the same level of performance throughout their SHS education, particularly in their final examinations.
He further challenged candidates who obtained aggregate nine and other higher aggregates to strive to improve their grades, saying they should set a target of achieving aggregate six or better by the time they completed SHS.
He said the BECE results should not be considered at the end of their academic journey, but rather a foundation upon which they could build their future careers and contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities.
The Chief advised the candidates to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their studies, while respecting their teachers, parents, and guardians.
He urged them to avoid distractions and negative peer influence, stressing that success at the SHS level would require determination, effective time management, and a strong commitment to academic work.
The Chief also encouraged parents and guardians to continue supporting their children by providing the necessary educational materials and creating a conducive environment for learning.
He called on teachers and school authorities to identify the strengths and weaknesses of students early and provide the necessary academic guidance to enable them to achieve their full potential.
The Chief expressed confidence that with the right support and determination, the candidates could improve their BECE achievements and gain admission to reputable tertiary institutions to pursue professional careers.
He urged the beneficiaries to regard their academic achievements as a responsibility to their families and communities and in the future, use their knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of Dambai and the Oti Region.
The Chief congratulated all candidates who participated in the BECE and commended teachers, parents, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the students’ performance.
He wished the candidates success in their SHS education and encouraged them to remain ambitious, disciplined and focused on their long-term goals.
