Beppoh (W/R), Sept. 12, GNA – MacWest Limited, the contractor engaged to undertake site-clearing works for Phase Three of the Appiatse Redevelopment Project, has officially been introduced to the chiefs and elders of Beppoh in the Western Region.
The engagement formed part of efforts to ensure effective collaboration as work on the project progresses.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr Cudjoe reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to completing the Appiatse Redevelopment Project and said the contractor had been tasked to clear the site within the stipulated period to pave the way for the main redevelopment works.
Nana Kojo Atta Bremebi II, Chief of Beppoh, welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the engagement.
He appealed to the Government and the contractor to expedite the work to ensure timely progress of the project.
Nana Bremebi II also urged the authorities to ensure that the site-clearing exercise led to the commencement of the redevelopment project and that the cleared land was not left idle.
Following the meeting with the chiefs and elders, the contractor met members of the Land Identification Committee (LIC), who conducted the team around the project site and explained the size and boundaries of the land earmarked for the project.
The contractor assured the LIC and other stakeholders of its readiness to complete the site-clearing exercise within schedule to facilitate the next phase of the redevelopment works.
The remaining 69 housing units under Phase Three of the Appiatse Redevelopment Project are expected to bring the redevelopment programme closer to completion and support the resettlement of affected residents.
It would be recalled that on January 20, 2022, a vehicle transporting mining explosives detonated near Bogoso in the Western region, destroying the Appiatse community and displacing hundreds of residents.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has spearheaded the redevelopment effort with support from the Appiatse Support Fund.
The then Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, commissioned the first phase of the project on May 2, 2024, comprising 124 housing units ranging from two-bedroom to seven-bedroom structures.
