Accra, May 1, GNA – The Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, on the advice of the National Security Council and by Executive Instrument, Thursday lifted the curfew imposed on 12 communities in the Gushegu District of the Northern Region.
The areas are Paboni, Yidaani, Kukpok, Busun Number One and Two, Nagnani, Nayagile, Donbin, Kolik, Tinyongu and Klokpan.
A statement issued by the Ministry said the lifting of the curfew was due to significant improvement in the security situation of the area.
It appealed to the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and all people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges and use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peaceful coexistence.
Meanwhile, the statement said: “There is a total ban on all persons in the district from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive objects/weapons and any persons found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
