Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, wife call on Zambian President

Accra, May 10, GNA – Bishop Dag Heward‑Mills, Founder of the Healing Jesus Campaign, and his wife Episcopal Sister Adelaide Heward‑Mills, have paid a courtesy call on Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at State House in Lusaka.

The meeting, broadcast live on the President’s official Facebook page, highlighted the spiritual and bilateral ties between Ghana and Zambia.

A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency said the courtesy call followed a three‑day Healing Jesus Crusade held at the National Heroes Stadium in Lusaka from April 21–23, 2026.

President Hichilema thanked Evangelist Heward‑Mills for choosing Zambia for the outreach, attributing Zambia’s achievements to God’s favour.

He commended Bishop Heward‑Mills for his humanitarian work and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia and the Council of Churches in Zambia in hosting the crusade.

Bishop Heward‑Mills praised President Hichilema for his openness and respect for the Church, stating: “God would honour the Zambian leader for his accommodative nature.”

He lauded the visible transformation in Zambia and offered prayers for the President and the nation.

Bishop Heward‑Mills recalled holding crusades in several towns and cities, including Livingstone, Chingola, Kitwe, Ndola, Chililabombwe, Kabwe and Mufulira, with earlier visits in 2017 leaving a lasting impact through Gospel outreaches.

President Hichilema acknowledged greetings brought from Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama, who had recently visited Zambia on a state visit.

He referenced President Mahama’s traditional Ghanaian fugu attire during that visit, which sparked widespread social media discussions on cultural exchange.

The statement said Bishop Heward‑Mills’ visit reinforced bilateral relations, building on shared values, faith and cultural appreciation between the two nations.

It said that the Lusaka crusade, hosted under the Healing Jesus Campaign, drew tens of thousands of attendees nightly, resulting in numerous conversions and healings consistent with the campaign’s focus on salvation, deliverance and the healing power of Jesus.

The statement said the courtesy call and preceding crusade had generated significant attention, viewed as strengthening faith‑driven national development and friendship between Ghana and Zambia.
