Management of GITFiC engages UN Resident Coordinator in Ghana

Accra, Sept 8, GNA- The Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC) has held a meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Ghana to inform him of GITFiC’s 10th Commemorative Anniversary Conference.
The Conference is premised on the 3rd Global Debt Initiative and the 2nd AfCFTA Tertiary Students’ Congress, slated for October 14th-15th, 2026 in Accra.

A statement issued by Mr Selasi Kofi Ackom, the CEO of GITFiC and copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra said the 10th Annual Meeting will be held on the theme: “Scaling GITFiC’s Global Debt Initiative: Transforming Sovereign Debt Challenges into a Catalyst for Sustainable Development and Global Economic Broad-based Prosperity.”

He said the meeting reviewed preparations for GITFiC’s 10th Commemorative Anniversary Conference to date and focused on enhancing collaboration between GITFiC and the United Nations to advance dialogue on innovative approaches to Global Debt Challenges.
Discussions also explored opportunities to enhance stakeholder participation and broaden the impact of the 10th Annual Meeting.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Zia Choudhury, expressed his commitment to supporting the successful organisation of the conference and resolved to facilitate strategic stakeholder engagement and participation by helping to identify and connect relevant institutions and key participants.
He also pledged the UN’s support for media publicity and communications, as well as assistance to enhance GITFiC’s advocacy through the UN’s communications platforms.
They also discussed the importance of measuring real-time impacts.

The Global Debt Initiative is an initiative of the GITFiC, premised on our Agenda 2031 and in collaboration with the African Development Bank. Support from the United Nations is expected to reinforce GITFiC’s efforts to promote practical policy solutions to sovereign debt challenges in Ghana, Africa, and the Global South, as well as GITFiC’s implementation support initiatives for the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The 10th Commemorative Anniversary Conference is expected to convene key stakeholders, policymakers, economic and financial experts, academics, and public and private sector leaders to deliberate on innovative strategies for transforming sovereign debt challenges into opportunities for sustainable economic growth under GITFiC’s Agenda 2031(Global Debt Initiative and the AfCFTA), which is being implemented with support from selected Ministries, Departments an
