Suma-Ahenkro, (Bono), May 5, GNA – Mr Joseph Addae Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, says the execution of road networks under the government “Big Push” road infrastructure programme is taking shape, and commended the contractors on the quality of work done.
He said: “Visible progress is being made on the road project with works gradually taking shape across various sites.”
Mr Akwaboa said this when he extended his regional “Accounting to the People” tour and addressed the chiefs and people of Suma-Ahenkro in the Jaman North District after inspecting the level of work on some of the projects in the region.
He explained that the accountability tour aligned with the government’s commitment to promoting and strengthening transparency, participatory governance and responsive leadership.
Mr Akwaboa told the people that he had inspected the ongoing construction of the 20-kilometre Sampa-Duadaso-Kokoa Road project, and he was satisfied with the progress of work on the stretch.
He said the contractors had given assurance to complete that particular project within one year, saying that works on the other road projects including the 80-kilometre Jinijini-Sampa Road and the Sampa-Wenchi stretch had also commenced.
Mr Akwaboa said he was highly optimistic that sections of those road projects would be asphalted early 2027, adding that construction of the Berekum-Seikwa Road project was also on course.
He expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama’s government for its dedication to improving road networks in the region and across the country, saying that would advance progressive economic and sustainable development.
Mr Akwaboa emphasised that the region required improved road networks to enhance connectivity, facilitate economic activities and thereby enhance access to social services.
At some of the project sites like the 33-kilometre Wamfie-Gambia No. 2 in the Dormaa East District of the region, the GNA noticed that contractors executing the project had leveled about 16 kilometres.
The situation was not different at the execution of the 80-kilometre Jinijini-Sampa Road as major earth works had begun from the Jinijini Township towards parts of the Fetentaa community, with culvert works progressing steadily.
Works on the 20-kilometre Sampa-Duadaso-Kokoa Road project were also on course. However, the GNA observed that construction work on the Botokrom-Babianiha-Japekrom-Drobo-Sampa Road Project was slow, with little work done on the stretch.
