Akatsi, May 4, GNA – The 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) commenced smoothly in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region on Monday, with education authorities and stakeholders expressing optimism about improved performance among candidates.

A total of 1,540 candidates, made up of 761 males and 789 females, are sitting for the examination across the municipality, drawn from both public and private basic schools.

A parade involving candidates from various basic schools was held at the Akatsi Senior High Technical School, one of the examination centres, to officially mark the beginning of the nationwide examination.

Mr Daniel Dagba, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Akatsi South, joined the parade alongside Mr Karim Ayaana Umar, Municipal Director of Education, and other stakeholders to interact with the candidates and wish them success.

Mr Dagba urged the candidates to approach the examination with confidence and avoid all forms of examination malpractice, stressing that hard work and discipline remained key to academic success.

Mr Umar also advised candidates to adhere strictly to examination regulations and make good use of the knowledge acquired during their years of study.

Some stakeholders who addressed the gathering encouraged the candidates to remain determined and strive for excellence to make their schools, parents, and the municipality proud.

He encouraged them to eschew fear and malpractice and assured them of continued support towards education development in the municipality.

The examination is being supervised by officials of the Ghana Education Service and security personnel to ensure a peaceful and incident-free process.

The event brought together education officials, teachers, parents, and stakeholders, who encouraged candidates to remain calm, focused, and disciplined throughout the examination period.
