Juaboso (WN), June 21, GNA – Mr Alexander Adu Quist, District Chief Executive for Juaboso in the Western North Region, has appealed to residents to support the assembly’s sanitation agenda by keeping drains free of waste and complying with environmental by-laws.
The appeal follows a clean-up exercise by the Juaboso District Assembly and security agencies to desilt choked drains and streams to improve upon water flow ahead of the peak rainy season.
Mr Quist said the exercise was necessary to reduce the risk of flooding and water-borne diseases in the district.

He noted that indiscriminate waste disposal remained a major cause of blocked drains.
“We can all help prevent flooding and the outbreak of diseases if we remain disciplined at all times,” he said. “Throwing refuse into drains and unauthorized places endangers lives and property.”
The DCE disclosed that 27 persons were arrested during the operation for dumping waste at unauthorized places. He said they would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
He urged assembly members, chiefs and opinion leaders to intensify education on proper waste management in their communities.
