Accra, June 21, GNA-The present state of xenophobia fast spreading through the continent like an epidemic should be curtailed and brought down to normality for effective economic growth and development, Prince Bagnaba Mba, President of Forum for Equity has said.
“We are living witnesses to the wanton display of lawlessness of looting and killing with forceful separation of families and couples in the wake of xenophobia, he added.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency on the attacks Mr Mba added,”we can’t go with the silent majority folding arms and looking at governments that have little or virtually nothing to offer”.
He said the attacks especially in South Africa had affected African Continental business concerns since the fear of retaliation had forced some companies to sell out their shares and run for safety.
“An emergency summit will ensure compliance to international trading and migration without hostility.
‘”A united Africa as espoused by President Nkrumah was to have a continent devoid of ethnicity and tribal biases.
No one stands to gain anything beneficial if xenophobia remains untamed”.
Mr Mba said businesses forcefully taken by unlawful hooliganism should be compensated by government who failed to check the excesses.
“Embargo and diplomatic sanctions must be applied where it is necessary”.
He said since the Ghanaian President called for reparation from the beneficiary countries of the obnoxious anti human slavery and slaves trading, clandestine economic interest groups have been trying to thwart this well meaning call for restitution, justice and equity. They will always get willing counterparts to execute their agenda by recruiting stooges to dismantle the system.
“The leadership in Africa has failed woefully to prevent this canker called xenophobia.
“Africa must unite. The death of Nkrumah,Abiola,Azikwe of Nigeria,Nelson Mandela,Sankara and many more people should not be in vain.
“How come Asian,Americans and Europeans can establish flourishing business empires in Africa, but a Nigerian, Ghanaian or Zimbabwean should be subjected to xenophobic attacks and elimination”?
