Accra, April 10, GNA – Ghana’s U-15 girls’ team, the Black Damsels, have successfully defended their title at the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) African Schools Football Championship being hosted in Zimbabwe after edging Burkina Faso 10–9 on penalties in a pulsating final.

The keenly contested encounter ended goalless at the end of regulation time, with both sides exhibiting discipline and tactical awareness throughout the game.

Despite several promising moments, neither team could find the breakthrough, forcing the final into a dramatic penalty shootout.
In the shootout, the two teams displayed remarkable composure, converting their kicks with precision in a tense battle that kept fans on edge.

Ghana, however, held their nerve to secure a narrow 10–9 victory, sealing back-to-back titles after last year’s triumph in Accra.

The triumph underscores Ghana’s growing dominance in the schools’ competition and reflects the steady progress being made in grassroots women’s football development.

Throughout the tournament, the Black Damsels demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and mental strength, defeating the likes of Zambia, Guinea and Tanzania en route to the final.

With this latest achievement, the Black Damsels have not only cemented their status as a formidable force in African schools’ football but also offered a glimpse into a promising future for women’s football in Ghana.
