Sunyani, (Bono) April 15, GNA – Mr Charles Opoku Gyamfi, a Regulatory Officer at the Bono Regional Office of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has cautioned the public against buying drugs on the streets and in commercial vehicles.

He said the FDA had not licensed or approved the sale of drugs on streets or in commercial vehicles, saying those who failed to heed the advice did so at their own peril.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Gyamfi reminded people who sold drugs on the street and in vehicles that it was an offence to do so, warning that those who would be apprehended would be prosecuted.

He said that: “It’s prohibited to sell drugs on the street or in vehicles”, and urged the public and travelers to report those sellers to either the police or the FDA.

Mr Gyamfi noted that most of the drugs sold on the streets and in commercial buses were medically unproven and unapproved and urged herbalists and plant medicine manufacturers to register their businesses.
