Denkyirahene appeals to Perseus Mining to construct Dunkwa-Ayanfuri road

Dunkwa-on-Offin (C/R), April 27, GNA – The Denkyirahene, Odeefo Boa Amponsem VI, has appealed to Perseus Mining Ghana Limited (PMGL) to support the construction of the Dunkwa-Ayanfuri road to improve transportation and boost economic activities in the area.

He said the current state of the road posed serious challenges to residents, traders, and motorists, particularly during the rainy season, affecting the movement of goods and services.

Odeefo Boa Amponsem made the appeal when PMGL handed over a 120 capacity-bed dormitory to the Ayanfuri Senior High School.

The Denkyirahene noted that although the mining company had contributed to some development projects in communities within its operational areas, the Dunkwa-Ayanfuri stretch remained a major concern that required urgent attention.

He stressed that the road served as a key link between several communities and mining sites, and its rehabilitation would significantly enhance commercial activities and improve livelihoods.

“The poor nature of the road continues to affect transportation, increase vehicle maintenance costs, and delay emergency services. We believe that with your support, this challenge can be addressed,” he said.

He urged the company to consider the road project as part of its corporate social responsibility, adding that such an intervention would further strengthen the relationship between the company and the host communities.

The Company through the Board Chairman, Ehunabobrim Pra Agyensaim said the concerns raised by the traditional authority had been noted and would be communicated to the company’s management for consideration, emphasising the company’s commitment to supporting community development initiatives.

He reiterated its resolve to maintain strong ties with host communities and to continue investing in projects that promote sustainable development.

Residents in the area have long called for the rehabilitation of the Dunkwa-Ayanfuri road, citing its importance to trade, education, and healthcare.

The appeal by the Denkyirahene is expected to renew discussions on possible partnerships to address the road infrastructure deficit in the area.
