Bosuso (E/R), April 10, GNA – Healthcare delivery at the Bosuso Health Centre in the Fanteakwa South District is under threat as a worsening water shortage disrupts operations, forcing staff to improvise to sustain services.
George Anane Konadu, the Physician Assistant in charge, described the situation as a major challenge undermining quality healthcare delivery.
He disclosed this at the Bosuso Youth Association’s Youth Connect event focused on youth empowerment and community development.
Mr Konadu said the crisis is worsened by ageing plumbing, with deteriorated pipes causing flooding whenever water flows, further crippling operations.
Although a plumber has assessed the damage, the facility lacks funds to undertake repairs, leaving water access severely limited and affecting sanitation, hygiene, and service delivery.
To cope, the health centre harvests rainwater into a polytank for basic operations, but he described the measure as inadequate and unsustainable.
He appealed to individuals and organisations to support efforts to restore reliable water supply to the facility.
Mr Konadu added that a toilet facility provided by World Vision remains largely unusable due to the lack of water, gradually turning into a white elephant.
The situation underscores the urgent need for intervention to safeguard healthcare delivery and protect both staff and patients.
